SCRIPTURE: Psalm 127:3
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. (NLT)

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (NKJ)
MEDITATION: Building a child's character starts at home. People that interact with your child daily also contribute to your child's character building. It is very important to monitor who pours into your child's life. Deciding what daycare or school your child attends is as equally important as who interacts and pours into the child's life. The saying "It takes a village to raise a child" is so true. That village may include, teachers, babysitters, God-parents, and sometimes neighbors. But the village must have Godly love and have a genuine love for children. God has graciously given us our children as gifts. The gift of a child should be cherished and appreciated. As parents it is our responsibility to nurture, teach, direct, discipline, and protect our gift. Often times we have to make sacrifices to make sure our children are well taken care of. It may be given up a career, relationship, personal goals or even hobbies. Spending quality time with our children are important as well. Anytime spent with the child can be considered "quality time," because it is giving them your full attention. Your child's greatest need is the security of knowing that you care. Give your child something that money cannot buy and that is your time. You will be building a lifelong relationship each minute you spend with your child.
HELPFUL TIPS:
1.Teach by your words, make sure they are kind, not harsh.
2.Teach by your actions, make sure they are wholesome and honest.
3.Watch your temperament, make sure it is controlled.
4.Pray for and with your children.
5.Teach them responsibility, and the importance of being honest.
6.Hug and kiss them often.
7.Most important spend quality time with them.

I agree with your meditation Quasonya! Children are definitely a gift from God! I don't know where my life would be without my "stars", Amija & Caleb! We are our children's first teachers. We should instill the values that we as adults uphold in order to build strong character values in our children. "We" all are God's reflection and our children are "our" reflection. Therefore, teaching, praising, communicating, spending time, embracing, and chastising our children are all important factors in the journey of parenthood. God bless those who have gracioulsy accepted the responsibility and are truly thankful for the gift of parenthood!
